A quality paint job requires more than just paint application. Surface preparation is one of the most important steps in the painting process.

Surface preparation includes, but is not limited to: scraping loose paint, priming, patching holes, sanding, and caulking. All estimates provided by Cozart Painting include surface preparation. Click on a link below that matches your painting needs to see what is included in all of our estimates.

Interior Repaint

Included in estimate:
  • Cover all floors, furniture, and personal effects
  • Make sure all surfaces are clean and ready for paint
    • Repair cracks, dents, and nail pops in drywall
    • Sand all areas to be painted to ensure that new paint will adhere and surfaces are smooth
    • Apply appropriate primer to any stains on walls and ceilings
    • Apply appropriate primer to any wood that was previously stained and needs painting
  • Caulk:
    • All doors, windows, and trim where needed
    • Using elastometric adhesive sealant
    • Remove old caulk where necessary
  • Paint:
    • Using Sherwin-Williams interior latex
    • Spray application on textured ceilings
    • Brush and roll application on walls
    • Brush application on trim
    • 2 coats
  • Touchup:
    • Final touchup to homeowner's satisfaction

Exterior Repaint

Included in estimate:
  • Make sure all surfaces are clean and ready for paint
    • Powerwash home
    • Inspect for damages and notify homeowner
    • Repair damages specified by homeowner
  • Caulk:
    • All doors, windows, and trim where needed
    • Using elastometric adhesive sealant
    • Remove old caulk where necessary
  • Paint:
    • Using Sherwin-Williams exterior latex
    • Spray application on gutters, boxing, and siding
    • Brush application on windows, doors, and trim
    • Paint mailbox post
  • Cleanup:
    • Clean all paint from windows
  • Touchup:
    • Final touchup to homeowner's satisfaction

Interior New Construction

Included in price per square foot:
  • Make sure all surfaces are clean and ready for paint
    • Free of dust
    • Sanded smooth
  • Fill nail holes in trim
  • Caulk:
    • All doors, windows, and trim
    • Using elastometric adhesive sealant
  • Prime all surfaces:
    • Using interior latex primer/sealer
  • Paint:
    • Using Sherwin-Williams interior latex
    • Paint garage
    • Spray and back roll application on ceilings and walls
    • Spray application on interior doors
    • Brush application on windows and trim
  • Stain and polyeurethane handrails on staircases
  • Touchup:
    • Blemishes caused during normal construction procedures
    • Blemishes caused by settling, shrinking, or expanding
    • Final touchup to homebuyer's or homeowner's satisfaction
Extras:
  • Oil based topcoat finishes*
  • Color changes after paint application
  • Additions or structure changes made after paint application

  • Make sure all surfaces are clean and ready for paint
  • Fill nail holes in trim and siding
  • Caulk:
    • All doors, windows, and trim
    • Using elastometric adhesive sealant
    • Clear caulking is used next to brick
  • Prime all wood surfaces:
    • Using appropriate exterior primer
  • Paint:
    • Using Sherwin-Williams exterior latex
    • Spray application on boxing and siding
    • Brush application on windows, doors, and trim
  • Touchup:
    • Blemishes caused during normal construction procedures
    • Blemishes caused by settling, shrinking, or expanding
    • Final touchup to homebuyer's or homeowner's satisfaction
Extras:
  • Oil based topcoat finishes*
  • Color changes after paint application
  • Additions or structure changes made after paint application
  • Brush application on siding*
